Independent Medical Examination

An Independent Medical Examination (IME) is an impartial and objective medical evaluation conducted by a physician like Dr. Perry R. Secor, MD. This examination is typically requested by individuals, legal entities or insurance companies in cases where a person's medical condition or injury is under dispute. The purpose of an IME is to provide an unbiased assessment of the individual's health status, the extent of their injuries, and the potential need for ongoing medical treatment.

Qualified Medical Examination

A Panel Qualified Medical Examination (PQME) is a specialized medical evaluation process, essential in resolving disputes primarily within the workers' compensation system. This type of examination is conducted by a physician who is specifically appointed and recognized as a Panel Qualified Medical Examiner. Dr. Secor, with his extensive expertise in orthopaedics and deep understanding of medical legal matters, provides an impartial and comprehensive assessment of the injured worker. The findings and recommendations made by Dr. Secor as part of the PQME are critical in guiding the resolution of the claim, ensuring that decisions are based on expert medical opinion. His role in a PQME is not only to assess the physical condition of the patient but also to interpret complex medical information in a way that is clear and actionable for all parties involved in the compensation claim.

Medical Records Review

Medical Records Review is a meticulous and comprehensive analysis of a patient's medical history and documentation. This service is integral to understanding the full scope of a patient’s medical condition. The doctor examines all relevant medical records, including previous diagnoses, treatment plans, and clinical notes, to provide a clear, accurate, and comprehensive understanding of the patient's medical journey. This review often goes hand-in-hand with Independent Medical Exams (IMEs) and Qualified Medical Exams (QMEs), as it aids in corroborating or clarifying the findings from these exams. Together, they form a robust and reliable foundation for legal or insurance decisions, ensuring that all conclusions drawn are based on a detailed and holistic view of the patient's medical history.

In a deposition, Dr. Secor provides sworn, out-of-court oral testimony, which is an essential part of the discovery process in legal cases, particularly those involving personal injury, workers’ compensation, or medical malpractice. His role involves answering questions posed by attorneys from both sides, offering clear, concise, and expert opinions based on his medical assessments and evaluations. Dr. Secor's deposition testimony can be pivotal in clarifying the medical aspects of a case, helping legal teams understand complex medical information and its implications for the matter at hand.

This service is crucial in cases where medical evidence is key to resolving legal disputes, such as in personal injury, medical malpractice, or workers’ compensation cases.
